The St. Rose Grammar School Student Council is comprised of students elected by their peers, from fourth to eighth grade. They are assigned a class to represent in the school and meet monthly to create and promote various school events. The Student Council runs a school store called Pens Inc. Students can buy classroom supplies such as pencils, folders, notebooks, and even snacks. Student Council also creates fundraisers such as dress-down days, raffle baskets, and a read-a-thon to fund our annual Carnival. At the end of the year, Student Council hosts the Carnival which includes a fun day outside with games, inflatable slides, a photo booth, and food! As a Catholic School we run service projects as well, such as collections of socks and hygiene products for the homeless and collections of items for newborns for struggling mothers. Overall, Student Council finds ways to serve our school and the surrounding community.
Yearbook Committee is a group of mostly 8th graders, with the exception of two 7th graders, who decide on the theme, layout and covers of the Yearbook for their graduating year. Students volunteer at least 1 hour once a week after school to have snacks and work on their assigned pages. The pages range from Class pages of student portraits to Catholic Schools Week memories and special days from different grade levels, such as Egypt Museum and Rainforest Cafe.
8th graders steer the committee in terms of theme, color, layouts and fonts. A Yearbook Senior Editor and Assistant Editor are chosen as the point people for the Advisor and the Committee Staff.
The two 7th graders are enlisted to learn the program for design and become the Editors the following year in 8th grade, being able to teach the program to the incoming 8th graders.
Yearbook pages are chosen and/or assigned which gives each committee member ownership of the page and design, building their creativity, communication and responsibility to the tasks.
The Committee also votes on a contest that will enable one student in the school to receive a FREE Yearbook. Contests have been in Photography, submitting a photo for the cover; and being the student who guessed the most correct answers for baby pictures of teachers.
Model United Nations (MUN) is a learning simulation where students, or delegates, represent countries or people and discuss global issues. Participants build important skills like public speaking, negotiation, and research. MUN improves understanding of international relations, boosts analytical skills, and encourages advocacy. This experience fosters teamwork and helps young leaders voice their views on important topics like climate change, human rights, and security, making them informed global citizens.
Delegates who fully prepare and participate in the conference receive a number of benefits: public speaking skills, research skills, writing skills, and much more. They also tend to receive an academic benefit, especially in History or English related classes. Participating in Model UN helps students to create a firm foundation for various skills necessary in academic and professional contexts, which sets our delegates apart from the rest of their peers. Students will write a paper and attend the conference. SRGS will be sending 19 delegates to this year's convention on December 6th.

Debra began teaching masterpiece painting in 2000 while she developed her own pre-k curriculum at a school in Spring Lake Heights, NJ.
Since 2001, Aspiring Artists® classes have been offered throughout Central New Jersey. Ms. Stasiak, more commonly known as “Miss Debra” to all of her students, has taught thousands of students who have produced over 30,000 interpretive renditions of famous masterpieces from Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cassatt, Cezanne, Pissarro, and van Gogh using her unique Interpretive Impressionism® system. She has expanded the Aspiring Artists® curricula to include her original compositions in Fauvism, Modernism, and Decoupage Designs.
In 2013, Debra was asked to collaborate with world renown international calligrapher Guodong Li. Their collaborative compositions were exhibited at the United Nations. One of their collaborative paintings was chosen to be the 2015 United Nations Women’s Guild calendar. Seven hundred calendars were sold at the United Nations building to benefit the United Nations’s Women’s Guild children’s relief efforts. Photos from their collaboration are shown below. Aspiring Artists® students from Monmouth County NJ participated in fundraiser painting classes to help pay for the production costs of the calendar. Aspiring Artists® aims to involve youth in opportunities to help children in need, and offers various fundraiser events to support its children helping children movement™.
